Movie Review!

My review of Netflix’s WEDNESDAY–a solid A. MUST SEE!!!!!

I didn’t know what to expect from this series. I have watched The Addams Family in the past, and while entertaining, the show is campy and fun despite darker themes. So I wondered just how Netflix might treat the characters, especially the morose Wednesday, after seeing how they treated Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised. 🙂

The plot is terrific, setting the story in an academy with a mystery within a mystery. The characters are great, and Wednesday proves to be fascinating. Not as one-dimensional as I’d expected at all. I absolutely love how she’s annoyingly selfish yet so strong in her own self, if that makes sense. The show also has a lot of other fun secondary characters, including: a too-chipper roommate, the class diva who’s surprisingly deeper than she appears, boys vying for Wednesday’s affections (while she remains uncaring, which was hilarious)… The villains are not as easy to figure out as you might think, and the CGI is terrific but not overdone.

This is definitely a fun series I’d watch again, and I sincerely hope they make a part 2. While part 1 wraps up nicely, there are a few questions that remain.

Oh, and the casting is exceptional. The actress who played Wednesday (Jenny Ortega) nailed it, but I was struck by how awesome Gwendoline Christie and Christina Ricci were.
